We invite you to participate in the 5th contest
"The Best Book in Communication Studies and Education in Communication", academic year 2011-2012
Who organises the contest? The founders and organisers of the book contest are the Russian Communication Association (RCA) and the Eurasian Communication Asso-ciation of North America (ECANA).
What is the main goal of the contest? Encouraging scholarly and academic publi-cations in communication studies in Russian.
What are the purposes of the contest? Defining the current state and level of, and dominant tendencies and developments in publications in communication, as well as en-hancing interest of foreign scholars to Russian scholarship and authors.
Who is invited to participate? Authors and groups of authors who have published within the past three years (2008-2011) books in communication studies in Russian. Sub-missions in English, French and German are also possible by prior arrangement with the Organising Committee.
When is the deadline? Authors should submit the application form and original publications (no less than 3 copies) to the Organising Committee before January 31, 2012.

What kind of books can be submitted? Books are accepted for the contest that belong to one of the following groups:
- practical manuals, teaching and methodological complexes, dictionaries for sec-ondary and University education and courses of continuing development;
- theoretical, scientific and popular scientific monographs;
- periodicals publishing sets of thematically related articles (almanacs, journals, special issues).
What are the thematic fields (categories) for proposals?
Applications to the contest should be submitted in one or two fields (categories):

5. Organisational, Professional, Business Communication, Public Relations
6. Interpersonal Communication
7. Rhetoric, Speech Communication, Public Speaking

9. Computer-Mediated Communication, Human-Computer Interaction, Distance Educa-tion /Е-Learning
10. Communication in Education
11. Media Education
12. Communication Issues in Translation and Interpretation
Who are reviewers? They are authoritative experts and reviewers from the Editing Board of the RCA (check the list of the current Editorial Board members), as well as spe-cialists from partner organisations, specialised chairs, faculties, educational and research organisations.
How are winners selected? Provided there are enough applications in each cate-gory and group, the jury choose the winners of the contest – laureates, who have taken the first prize, and diploma holders, who have taken the second and third prizes, as well as di-ploma holders whose considerable achievements have been recognised by the jury and category founders.
When will the results be announced? The results will be declared in May 2012. The announcement of the results and the awards ceremony will take place at the RCA con-ference “Communication-2012”.
Who supports the contest financially? Contest expenses are covered by the RCA and the ECANA. Funding for organisation, prizes and awards will consist of donations from the founders, partners, sponsoring organisations and individuals.
Who can establish a category for nomination? Chairs, faculties, teaching and re-search laboratories, and other organisations or their departments (specialised in a particular field of knowledge). Category founders are selected by the contest founders together with the Organising Committee, based on applications received from these organisations before December 30, 2011.
