Adressing intercultural learning in foreign language instruction means new challenges for teachers and learners. Current views on language proficiency require the inclusion of culture content, that goes beyond the surface structure of culture. They emphasize the inseparability of language and culture and call for focusing on the deep structure of culture.

The workshop will introduce concepts of culture relevant to foreign language teaching and the possibilities of their application in the practice of the foreign language classroom. It will use experiential methods and will strongly address the cultural self-awareness of the participants.
